Patriotic Manicure Take 2: Polka Dots!

After the disaster of America – The Beautiful, I decided to try something a little simpler and, as it turns out, a whole lot more fun.

After a fun chat with author Vicky Dreiling, I was inspired to try a polka dot manicure.  As I’m not the most artistic person (that’s the understatement of the year!), I decided to look for a short cut.  I’m ALL about short cuts 😉  Enter Sally Hansen Nail Art Pens!  As easy to use as a regular pen, just shake, press and draw on painted nail.

I used Ciaté Paint Pots in Mistress (available at Sephora) over Zoya Anchor.  I know Ciaté is a British polish company and this is a Fourth of July manicure, but it’s the perfect bright cherry red.  It applied like a dream!  Unfortunately I’m experiencing some tip wear already but I think that can be attributed to my over-careful application.  After the gloop of my previous mani, I used too light a hand here.

Once Mistress was completely dry, I added rows of  dots using Sally Hansen Nail Art Pens, alternating white and blue.  Simple as that!  The nail art pens deposit smooth color, no bumps at all.  Top it off with Seche Vite top coat and it’s nothing but smiles from then on out.
